Visit to Endeavour Farm, Mareeba

  • Description: Jan presented certificates of achievement to workers at Endeavour Farm, Mareeba, during Daisy for Disability Day. Workers at the farm, who have various disabilities, produce mangoes and tomatoes for sale. The farm, the only olne of its type on the Tablelands, is operated by the not-for-profit Endeavour Foundation.

  • Description: Senator O’Brien was accompanied on his visit by Labor Senator for Queensland Jan McLucas and Labor’s candidate for Leichhardt, Jim Turnour. Travelling from Aurukun to Thursday and Saibai Islands, Port Douglas and then to Cairns, the Labor delegation met with ATSIC representatives, community and island councils and ATSIS staff and attended the opening of the Gabi Titui Cultural Centre.

  • Description: The evening of 17 March was historic because it saw the creation of Australia's first cultural development branch of the ALP and it took place right here in tropical Far North Queensland. Federal Shadow Minister for the Arts, Senator Kate Lundy was special guest of honour and branch members have asked me to be patron of the Branch.
